PTSD - A To Z of Hypnotherapy

Psychological trauma is damage to the mind that occurs as a result of a distressing event. Trauma is often the result of an overwhelming amount of stress that exceeds your ability to cope, or rationalise the emotions involved with that experience.

Symptoms of trauma include;

• Anger

• Persistent feelings of sadness and despair

• Flashbacks

• Unpredictable emotions

• Intense feelings of guilt, as if they are somehow responsible for the event

• Feelings of isolation and hopelessness

One thing has to be present for PTSD to be created, and not just be a trauma; you or people close to you has to potentially die. It could have been created during an accident, a violent relationship, during service in the forces or in many other scenarios.

It might surprise you that childbirth is the most common cause of PTSD in the UK (for both men and women). If you think about it, it’s a stressful time, perhaps you have long labor, after all that you have a carrying baby, or there may be complications.

Even for men, they see all the rushing around, their partner screaming, they may feel helpless, perceived or actual danger to life.

If you've been suffering with PTSD, get in touch to book a free no-obligation consultation and to find out how hypnotherapy could help you.
